Please note that unless otherwise stated, activities take place monthly.
CULTURE:
ART IN THE GALLERY explores many of the fabulous art galleries and exhibits in Victoria and outlying areas. Coffee/tea and enlightened conversation follow the visits.
BOOK CLUB meets for a lively exchange of views on a predetermined fiction or nonfiction book.
READERS' CHOICE BOOK CLUB meets once a month to discuss books members have read/are reading.
EN FRANÇAIS has rendezvous in members' homes to discuss French articles/films or visits to locations around Victoria with a French-speaking guide. From the first “bonjour” to the last “au revoir”, French is de rigeur!
HERITAGE & ANTIQUES organizes visits to interesting buildings and places of historic significance in the city and also invites history/antique buffs to offer fact-filled tidbits about “old items” in our midst.
DINING:
COUPLES HOME DINNERS are held in members' homes, with shared responsibility for the menu. The men in our lives enjoy meeting our many newfound friends and partners. All couples host during the year.
COUPLES RESTAURANT DINNERS allow couples to become better acquainted through small dining groups and at the same time provide an introduction to the various restaurants in and around Victoria.
SINGLE LADIES POTLUCK DINNERS are held in members' homes and provide opportunities for great dining, memorable conversations and lasting friendships.
TEA TIME offers “takiing tea” in various locations around the city, enjoying either high tea or the simple sampling of new brews with a sweet. This IS Victoria, after all!
WOMEN'S RESTAURANT GROUP shares an evening meal in different restaurants around the city. What a terrific way to experience new establishments, menus and good company!
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
BRISK WALKERS do 1½ hours of energetic walking weekly, year round, rain or shine, at locations in and around Greater Victoria, enjoying sights and chats on the way and always finishing with coffee.
GOLF summer and winter. to play par 3-4 courses at various locations. No need to be a scratch golfer - games are for fun and friendship!
INTERMEDIATE HIKERS (singles or couples) connect at various trailheads for 2 hours of energetic workout, finishing at a pub for earned rewards.
MODERATE WALKERS. Sixty minutes at a steadiy pace followed by refreshments and chat.
WALKS WITH DOGS meets twice a month in and around Victoria area for canine and human companionship as well as exercise. Treats afterwards for all!
OTHER INTERESTS:
AFTERNOON BRIDGE meets twice a month at a regular location (for a small fee). No hosting here, just serious fun at the tables!
BIRDING enthusiasts join SWANS twice monthly on their outings around the city to observe birds that live in, or migrate to, the area. Hats, binoculars, sunscreen, cameras and a whispering voice are advised!
BOTANICAL BELLES meet at nurseries or members' homes to learn about the delights and challenges of Island gardening, with topics ranging from composting to wreath-making.
EVENING MIXED BRIDGE teams up couples for cards and socializing in members’ homes. Each couple takes turns hosting a few tables. Try not to trump your partner’s ace!
MOVIE GOERS watch new releases or special showings at cinemas around Victoria. Lively discussions follow the screenings.
SCRABBLE ANYONE? Enjoy the game of Scrabble at a member's home on the fourth Thursday of each month. The goal is to have fun while keeping the verbal side of our brains active. (Convenor needed).
STITCH AND CHAT for time to work on any type of portable craft while visiting with, and meeting new friends. Finish projects, share your skills and show off your creations.
